EXCURSION TO TECHNOPARK CELJE

INTRODUCTION:

The purpose of this report is to describe the excursion of the ITSB group of Gimnazija Jesenice to Tehno park Celje, highlight its most memorable and useful aspects, and provide some recommendations regarding possible improvements for future excursions. As requested, this report is limited to the activity of robotics, illusions, and science experiments. Other activities and the visit to the photo exhibition in Ljubljana are not included. The excursion took place on Friday, 23rd September 2022.

ILLUSIONS AND SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS:

There were different varieties of experiments on display, from various illusions to a ball with static electricity that makes your hair stand up. Furthermore, it was possible to test one’s reflexes with a special machine, to calculate one’s body weight on different planets of our solar system, or to test one’s wheelchair-driving abilities on the obstacle test course.

A particularly fun activity was the optical illusion in the distorted room which makes a person standing in one corner appear as a giant. It was the highlight of the excursion.

ROBOTICS:

In my opinion, the most useful aspect of the field trip was robotics, which taught us programming and teamwork. In robotics, we assembled a robotic rhino from Lego bricks. We split into pairs and learned how to program with the help of blueprints and then we had a competition to determine which robot got the closest to the brick without knocking it over.

CONCLUSION:

On the whole, the excursion was very educational and entertaining. However, there were some issues with the experiments including the virtual reality that must be addressed as soon as possible. Nevertheless, I can only recommend organising future excursions to Tehno park Celje.
